Beijing Olympic Tours - 2 Day Beijing 2008 Highlights Tour
One of our Beijing Olympic Tours, our 2 Day Beijing 2008 Highlights Tour is designed for those who do not have much time to travel around China or Beijing during the Olympic Games, but would still like to catch a glimpse of the capital.
Day 1
Tiananmen Square + Forbidden City + Summer Palace + Farm Stay
Guided tour of the massive Tiananmen Square. Visit the Forbidden City, a complex of nearly 10,000 rooms that was home to 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties. This is followed by a relaxing cruise along the ancient emperors' water way to the Summer Palace and get off at Empress Ci Xi's dock.
Go to Beijing's outskirts in the afternoon to a small, quiet village at the foothills of the Great Wall. Stay overnight at a local farm village where you will be able to experience the traditional Chinese rural way of life and sleep soundly just beneath the Great Wall of China.
Day 2
Secret Great Wall to Mutianyu Great Wall Hike
Less visited than the Badaling Great Wall section (which is always full of tourists) and even the Simatai Great Wall, we take you to a section where only a few people have step foot on in modern history.
This is a great chance to see the sun rise while you sit on the centuries the Old Great Wall. After breakfast with the villagers we will start our walk at the un-restored Secret Great Wall to Mutianyu Great Wall and have a meal there.
